AMBIENT INTELLIGENCE (AmI)
SCENARIO
Intelligent Environments or Ambient Intelligence (AmI), are relatively recent concepts which are changing the traditional vision of ICTs. In line with the broadest definitions of these terms, it is possible to imagine a world in which people are reinforced through a digital environment which is aware of their presence and context, and which is sensitive, adaptable and responds to their needs, habits, gestures and emotions. A world in which it will be possible to access any information source from anywhere, in any language, at any time and by any person. This world can be conceived as a gigantic distributed network made up of thousands of interconnected embedded systems which surround the user and satisfy their need for information, communication, navigation and entertainment, simplifying and automating their professional tasks and personal activities.
ROBOTIKER-Tecnalia carries out significant Research activity in this field, leading the Strategic Research Programme AMIGUNE, in which a total of 11 R&D agents are participating. Several Units at the Centre are attaching a significant part of their specialisation to this Programme, through their own R&D projects related to topics such as Automobile Electronics (INNOCAR), the Integration of Fixed and Mobile Networks (AMIKIN) and Interaction with Intelligent Environments (INTERAMI).
